Thank you to all those who attended our June monthly meeting. Here’s a quick update on what the Committee discussed.
We were honored to have Virginia’s Republican National Committeeman, Morton Blackwell, explain the nomination process and rules for the upcoming Republican National Convention. He also discussed the history of the rules noting that with the convention less than a month away and with a presumptive nominee, it is too late to change the rules to favor another candidate.
In new business, an “Official Position of the Arlington County Republican Party on 2016 Republican National Convention” was proposed. Read the full policy here. After heated debate, the Committee rejected the proposed policy. Read press coverage from Inside NOVA for a full recap.
The Committee is also leading several initiatives including door knocking efforts with an emphasis on District 8 candidate Charles Hernick and a communications campaign designed to engage the community by emphasizing Republican principles.
