Resolution 2003-01:
Honoring Charlotte W. Cleary
for outstanding service as Registrar

Whereas, Charlotte W. Cleary has elected to conclude 18 years as General Registrar of Arlington County; and

Whereas, Charlotte W. Cleary has administered the daily operations of the Registrar's office during six three-year cycles of Arlington County Electoral Board members; and

Whereas, these Electoral Board cycles encompassed an equal number of years, nine years each, during which the Board majority was, in accordance with the Virginia Code, representative of the political parties of Governors Charles S. Robb, Gerald L. Baliles, L. Douglas Wilder, George F. Allen, James S. Gilmore, III, and Mark R. Warner; and

Whereas, the tenure of Charlotte W. Cleary oversaw the successful conduct of 34 elections, including 18 general elections, 10 primary elections, and 6 special elections, a Commonwealth record for such a period of time; and

Whereas, Charlotte W. Cleary has initiated unprecedented outreach through voter registration, Voters in Partnership, and Election Officials recruitment projects; and

Whereas, Charlotte W. Cleary has earned the respect and appreciation of Arlington County's elected officials, candidates, political party committees, Election Officials, the news media, and the voters;

Now therefore, be it resolved

That the Arlington County Republican Committee hereby recognizes and commends the memorable record of Charlotte W. Cleary as General Registrar of Arlington County, and extends best wishes to her for the future.

at its monthly meeting on March 28, 2003, in Arlington, Virginia
