Resolution 2002-03:
Congress should back Bush's economic plan

Whereas, President George W. Bush has completed his first year in office; and

Whereas, during that period, the President has provided strong capable leadership for America, on domestic issues as well as leading the Nation in responding to the threat of international terrorism; and

Wheras, the Bush Administration’s tax cut, enacted last year by a Republican Congress, has already begun to strengthen the American economy; and

Whereas, the President and Republican leaders in Congress have outlined plans to continue and expand tax relief, to promote renewed economic growth and prosperity; and

Whereas, many Democrats in Congress, including Senators Daschle and Kennedy, are trying to block the President’s plan for economic growth, and even to rescind last year’s tax reductions; and

Whereas, the economic views of the two political parties will be debated in this year’s Congressional elections;

Now therefore, the Arlington County Republican Committee resolves:

We commend the President on his commitment to reducing Federal taxes and economic growth.

We also commend the Republican members of Congress from Virginia, including Senators Warner and Allen, for their support of tax relief initiatives, and we urge them to continue to support the President’s economic initiatives.

We call on Senate Democrats to put aside their partisan tactics, and to support the tax reductions needed for renewed economic growth in America.
