Resolution 2001-12:
President's leadership bolsters America

Whereas, the terrorist attacks against America on September 11, which targeted New York City, the Pentagon, and our airline service, were unprecedented in size and brutality; and

Whereas, the nation and world were horrified by the events of September 11, overcome with sorrow and grief over the loss of life, and fearful of further terrorist actions; and

Whereas, the nation and world looked to our government for leadership, reassurance, and hope for the future; and

Whereas, President Bush has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in this difficult time – in committing military and other resources to defeat international terrorists, in building an effective international coalition against terrorism, and in reassuring the American public and the world community that our freedoms and our economy will survive this challenge; and

Whereas, the events of September 11 and our nation’s response transcend partisanship, with citizens from all backgrounds and political persuasions uniting behind President Bush in a tremendous display of national unity.

Now, therefore, the Arlington County Republican Committee resolves:

We applaud the decisive leadership that President Bush and his Administration have shown during this difficult time, and we are grateful to have a national leader who inspires trust among all Americans.

We commend members of Congress -- from both parties and independents -- and the public at large, for putting aside differences on other issues and uniting behind the President in our national resolve to defeat terrorism.

Considered and adopted by the Arlington County Republican Committee at its monthly meeting on September 27, 2001, in Arlington, Virginia.
