Arlington GOP invites new members,
sets schedule for reorganization
Arlington Republicans are invited to sign up as County Committee members and Convention delegates, as part of the local GOP's biennial reorganization. The party will also elect a new County GOP Chairman for the next two years.
Candidates for Chairman must submit a letter of intent by Tue., Feb. 21. Those wishing to join the County Committee for the next two years, or to serve as delegates to the District and State Conventions later this spring, should use the official filing form and submit by Wed., Feb. 22. The schedule was adopted by the outgoing County Committee at its monthly meeting on Jan. 25.
"Serving on the County Committee is a great way to help build the party in Arlington," said Chairman Mark Kelly. "We welcome new members and returning members alike." Kelly is currently running for County Board in the March 27 special election, and is not seeking re-election to the party post.
The Conventions are also important for party governance, he noted, and there are many positions available for Arlington. The 8th Congressional District Convention will be held on May 12, and the Virginia State Convention on June 16 in Richmond. Those conventions will elect district and statewide party officers, and delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
