Arlington GOP nominates
McMenamin for County Board
Vows to bring 'responsive leadership' to County

ARLINGTON, VA * During its monthly meeting on May 24, members of the Arlington County Republican Committee (ACRC) unanimously nominated Mike McMenamin, president of the Maywood Civic Association and member of the county's Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee, to challenge career County Board member Chris Zimmerman at the polls this November.

In accepting the nomination, McMenamin pledged to bring responsive leadership to the Board, and to represent the forgotten interests of neighborhoods and taxpayers.

County GOP chairman Jeff Miller said the nomination provides the best opportunity in years to break up one-party control of the County Board. And he said McMenamin's strong neighborhood focus will have strong appeal to voters throughout the County, including independents and unhappy Democrats.

"Our County Board should not be an automatic re-election machine," said Miller. "Chris Zimmerman has lost touch with our community and the realities of the issues that Arlington residents face every day in our neighborhoods. Arlington deserves better leadership.

"Mike McMenamin will bring a much-needed independent voice to the County Board. He's committed to a true deliberative process with citizen participation on important issues, not a quick rubber stamp for every bad policy initiative, tax hike and spending increase promoted by the current members of the one-party Board."
