Political signs

This message is appearing on both the Arlington Republican and Democratic listservs.

There have been an increasing number of reports of loss or damage of political signs by both sides.

In Arlington, we have a long tradition of political civility. This includes the right to display signs either in yards or in median strips. The Arlington Democratic and Republican Committees both endorse this policy.

While we applaud the spirited nature of the current debate, we wanted to take this opportunity to jointly urge all sides to respect the rights of others and refrain from any destruction or taking of signs.

The willful taking or destroying of political signs is a criminal offense. Anyone witnessing such activity should report it to the Arlington Police Department.
