Government

Arlington's local government is headed by a five-member County Board. Unlike most Virginia counties (which elect Supervisors by district, in the same election), Arlington elects Board members at-large, on a staggered basis, all to 4-year terms: County seal

  • Libby Garvey (D) - term expires in '12
    NOTE: Elected in Mar. 2012, to fill vacancy created by election of Barbara Favola to the State Senate in Nov. 2011.
  • Jay Fisette (D) - term expires in '13
  • Chris Zimmerman (D) - term expires in '14
  • Walter Tejada (D) - term expires in '15
  • Mary Hynes (D) - term expires in '15

Election cycle: County Board elections are held each November, with 2 members elected in odd-numbered non-gubernatorial years, and 1 member elected in each other year. (Last regular election: Nov. 8, 2011, for 2 seats. Last special election: Mar. 27, 2012, for one seat. Next election: Nov. 6, 2012, for one seat.)
