Arlington County Republican Committee Mark Kelly, Chairman

Government

Arlington's local government is headed by a five-member County Board. Unlike most Virginia counties (which elect Board members by district, in the same election), Arlington elects Board members at-large, on a staggered basis, all to 4-year terms: County seal

The County also has five elected constitutional officers, all elected to 4-year terms (except for the Clerk):

Election cycle: County Board elections are held each November, with 2 members elected in odd-numbered non-gubernatorial years. (Next election: Nov. 4, 2008, for one seat - see Campaign 2008.) Constitutional offices are elected in odd-numbered non-gubernatorial years. (Next election: Nov. 2011.)
