Reorganization 2006

In early 2006, Arlington Republicans will select new party officers for the next two years and sign up to participate in the 8th Congressional District GOP convention. In late spring, the party will select a District Chairman. There are many positions available, and ACRC encourages all interested party members to participate.

Arlington Republicans will separately nominate a candidate for County Board, and help to select GOP nominees for U.S. Senate and U.S. House. See Campaign 2006.

Updated (Mar. 11):
Two candidates filed for County GOP Chairman (Jeff Miller and Landey Patton). The party held a canvass election on March 11 (open to all Arlington Republicans) to select the new Chairman. More than 230 voters came out to participate in the canvass; and Miller was elected.

Any registered voter in Arlington, who is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, could file for any or all of the following positions:

Candidates for County Chairman had to file by Tue., Feb. 21. Since two candidates filed for Chairman, a canvass election was held on March 11 to select the new leader.

Candidates for County Committee member and for 8th District Convention delegates had to file by Wed., Feb. 22. Since the filings did not exceed the number of available positions, all candidates were elected at the ACRC meeting on Feb. 22, and no canvass will be needed for those slots.
(NOTE: Interested Republicans may still file for vacant positions on the County Committee. Applicants must attend two monthly meetings, and then stand for election by the full Committee.)

The filing period for chairman of the 8th District Republican Committee is still open. To file for District Chairman, a voter must submit a letter of intent to the 8th District Committee, along with the applicable filing fee. Letters of intent must be submitted and received no later than Fri., Apr. 14.
