Reorganization 2004Prior to the November elections, Arlington Republicans will elect new officers for the next two years, and also participate in District-level and state-level conventions. There are many positions available, and we encourage all interested party members to participate.
To file for any office, a voter must complete and sign the Arlington filing form and submit it, along with any applicable filing fee, to ACRC headquarters (405 S. Glebe Rd., Arlington 22204). Blank forms are available at headquarters, or may be downloaded (see box at right). The completed forms must be received by ACRC no later than Wed., Feb. 25, at 5 pm. Forms may be delivered to ACRC by hand (see map) or sent by mail, but postmarks do not govern. Forms may also be submitted to ACRC by fax (703-486-2059).
Updated: If any of the positions had been contested, a party canvass would have been held on Saturday, March 13, for those positions. However, since no positions were contested by the close of the filing deadline, all persons who filed were elected at the County Committee meeting on February 26, and the party canvass was cancelled. Congressional District: The Eighth District Republican Convention will be held Saturday morning, May 15, at Edison High School in Franconia. The Convention will nominate the Republican candidate for Congress to take on Jim Moran this fall. The Convention will also elect a District chairman, 3 members of the Republican State Central Committee, 3 delegates and 3 alternates to the Republican National convention, and a Presidential elector. Arlington is authorized to send up to 895 delegates to the District Convention. (See more information on the District Convention.)
Statewide: The Virginia Republican State Convention will be held June 4-5 in Richmond. That convention will elect a State chairman, 2 members of the Republican National Committee, 28 delegates and 28 alternates to the Republican National convention, and 2 Presidential electors. Arlington is authorized to send up to 895 delegates to the State Convention.
