There are also several referndum questions on the ballot. Be sure to vote! Election Day is Tuesday, November 2, and polls are open 6 am - 7 pm (see details). Absentee voting is available from Sep. 17 through late October. We encourage you to get involved with the 2010 campaigns here in Arlington! Several things you can do to help:
For Congress:
Opponents: District: The 8th Congressional District includes Arlington County, Alexandria City, Falls Church City, and parts of Fairfax County (see map). About 32% of the District's voters live in Arlington. Nomination: Murray won a narrow victory over Matthew Berry of Arlington in the GOP primary for Congress on June 8 (see results). We appreciate Berry's energetic campaign. Several other candidates had earlier announced for the seat, but withdrew before the filing deadline:
For County Board:
Opponents: Democrat: Chris Zimmerman (incumbent)
Green: Kevin Chisholm Arlington School Board - one member The filing deadline was June 8. By law, parties do not nominate candidates for School Board, although they often make endorsements. Democrat: Sally Baird (incumbent)
[NOTE: ACRC has not made an endorsement in this race.]
Green: Miriam A. Gennari Referendum questions There are 7 questions on the Arlington ballot this year - 3 amendments to the Virginia state constitution, and 4 County bond issues. The Arlington County Republican Committee recommends supporting the amendments and the school bond, but recommends against the other bond proposals. (See more on the ballot questions and the ACRC recommendations in our news release.) Constitutional amendments
