Mass Meeting of the Arlington County Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia

As Chairman of the Arlington County Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia (“the Committee”), and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Andrew Loposser, do hereby issue this call for a mass meeting
to be held at Summers Restaurant (1520 N Courthouse Rd, Arlington, VA 22201), starting at 7:30 PM local time on May 22, 2019 for the purposes of: (a) nominating a Republican candidate for each the following offices to be voted for in the general election on November 5, 2019 – Commissioner of Revenue, Commonwealth’s Attorney, two County Board seats, and Sheriff; (b) for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting. Any voter who wishes to participate and vote at the mass meeting must be in the meeting registration line no later than 7:00 PM, May 22, 2019.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Arlington County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Candidates for the election or nomination at the mass meeting shall file a signed and dated written statement addressed to the Committee by mail or in person, to Andrew Loposser, Arlington County Republican Committee Chairman, P.O. Box 3081, Arlington, Virginia 22203, which must be received not later than May 15, 2019. Postmarks do not govern. A filing fee in the amount of $4,500 shall be included with the written statement for the Commissioner of Revenue, Commonwealth’s Attorney, and Sheriff offices. A filing fee in the amount of $2,200 shall be included with the written statement for the County Board office. The fee shall be a check or money order payable to the Arlington County Republican Committee. The statement shall include the following text: “By my signature below, in accordance with the Qualifications for Participation set forth in the Plan of Organization for the Republican Party of Virginia, I do hereby state my intent to support all of the Republican Party of Virginia’s nominees in the November 5, 2019 general election.”
There will be no registration fee for voters to participate in this mass meeting.
The Committee may cancel the mass meeting if one or no candidates file as required by this call. There shall be no candidate nominations from the floor at the mass meeting. The deadline for voters to register for the mass meeting shall be the time established in this call for the meeting to start.
The Committee decided, pursuant to Article VIII, Section A. 2 of the Plan of Organization, to eliminate the requirement that this call be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Committee’s district.
